South Shetland Islands

The Shetland Island is surrounded by rolling countryside and an array of wildlife and nature. This island has a strong cultural heritage and is home to some of the finest archeological sites in Europe. Places to get an insight into the culture and heritage include Broch of Mousa and the multi-period Jarlshof. The influence of Scandavia and the Viking period are apparent in buildings, with strong links to Norway. For nature lovers, you can take a boat around the seabird cliffs and if you’re lucky catch a glimpse of the wild seals and feeding orcas.
