Discover the beauty of Blenheim Palace, an impressive World Heritage Site in Oxfordshire and birthplace of former Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill, during a self-guided tour. One of England’s largest houses, it was built in the early 18th-century, as a gift from Queen Anne to the 1st Duke of Marlborough, John Churchill. Cardiff Castle

Cardiff Castle is the fascinating castle in Wales, boasting 2000 years of history within its Romanesque walls and fairy tale towers. It began its life as the first Roman fort at Cardiff, the Norman conquest, the Castle’s keep was built, it then passed through the hands of many noble families until 1766, where it passed, by marriage, to the Bute family. Here, the 3rd Marquess began a collaboration with William Burges. Within its stone walls, he created lavish interiors, rich with murals, stained glass, marble, gilding and intricate wood carvings. During World War II, air raid shelters were created within tunnels in the castle walls, providing safety and refuge for nearly 2000 residents. Following the death of the 4th Marquess of Bute, the family decided to give the Castle to the city of Cardiff, since 1974 it has become one of the country’s most popular visitor attractions.

Palace of Holyroodhouse

The Palace of Holyroodhouse has many names including Holyrood Palace or just simply, Holyroodhouse, and it is the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland. Nestled at the bottom of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, and at the opposite end to Edinburgh Castle, it was founded as a monastery in 1128. Today it’s the setting for State ceremonies and official entertaining.
